&Beyond Manyara Tree Lodge

Live among the treetops

Most people think that the famous tree-climbing lions at Lake Manyara have developed their climbing habit to get away from annoying insects. We have our own theory – they’re jealous of our magnificent treehouse suites at &Beyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge. Cradled in the boughs of an ancient mahogany forest, the lodge blends into the natural beauty of its breathtaking surroundings.

In detail

Location

The lodge is situated in a remote and secluded area of the park with spectacular Rift Valley scenery and dramatic escarpment views. The area is rich with an incredible variety of habitats and wildlife including views of the Soda lake with pink flamingos.

Suites

Designed to exert minimal impact on the environment, &Beyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge offers an exclusive interpretive safari in a remote, game-rich wilderness while featuring Romantic treehouse suites. Open on three sides, the raised, spacious lounge has several comfortable sitting areas and a light, airy feel to it. It seamlessly combines contemporary design with classic natural features such as the thatched roof with a banana leaf underside. The downstairs dining room (which incorporates a small open-air kitchen) and deck is adorned with simple, elegant furnishings and makes extensive use of raw and polished wood. The deck provides lots of space for private dining, as does the large, sandy boma area with a fireplace at its centre. The swimming pool is surrounded by gorgeous, lush forest and plenty of reclining sunloungers.

Ten private wooden “tree-house” chalets are set in the mahogany forest on elevated decks. The warm earthy colours and French doors exude comfort and elegance. The en-suite bathroom, separated by a long curtain, has a double basin, Victorian bath, an outside shower and lots of space. In addition to the very comfortable double bed, there is a private lounge and long wooden veranda, all with views of the surrounding forest that makes you feel a part of it.

Dining

An interactive kitchen allows guests to observe the preparation of delicious dishes that are enjoyed in the theatrical boma or on the open dining decks, with spectacular forest views. The lodge also features a Safari Shop that boasts signature community craftwork and a range of lodge branded safari clothing.
